KUALA LUMPUR - Lim Guan Eng (PH - Bagan) criticized the attitude of the opposition who seem to only be making noise after former Attorney General, Tan Sri Idrus Harun released without acquitting Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi recently.
Lim said when Idrus, who was appointed by the former government and was retained by the Unity government, none from Perikatan Nasional (PN) objected to the decision at the time.
He added that when the decision made was not in their favour, suddenly the opposition is making noise and are against the decision.
Lim said he however felt that the newly appointed Attorney General should explain to the people the decision that has been made recently.
"I think if the explanation is more comprehensive and transparent, it will be able to convince the people regarding the decision
"I hope the government can also give a year to perfect the separation of powers between the public prosecutor and the Attorney General," he told the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.
"Only with this step, we can convince the people that the spirit of reform in this unity government is still burning," he said.
He added that the government should admit that there are still many parties who are not satisfied, including the Bar Council, and that the decision taken needs an immediate explanation.
Lim said this while debating the 12th Malaysia Plan mid-term review this morning.
