MUAR - Residents in Simpang Jeram are confident that the new representative for the area, Nazri Abdul Rahman, will be able to perform his duties to the best of his abilities and continue the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub's excellent service.
A survey by Sinar after Nazri's first day as representative in the area found that residents gave a positive response to the Bakri Parliament Amanah area deputy chief.
Private sector employee Mohd Kuzhai Supar, 54, said he was confident that Nazri would be able to perform his duties well in Simpang Jeram based on his morals and good character.
"As a local boy, Nazri is well-known. He has good morals and character, and he also has a good personality. I'm confident that he can shoulder the work previously done by the late Salahuddin and remain in the Simpang Jeram state seat in the future," he said.
Retired teacher V Nagamoorthy, 56, said Nazri's victory was expected to help ensure the welfare and facilities for Indians in Simpang Jeram. He hoped that Nazri would continue the tasks towards carrying Simpang Jeram state assembly towards a Johor Growth.

He said he hoped that Nazri would solve the schooling issue that existed there.
"Congratulations Nazri. We hope you can continue Salahuddin's service.
"We only ask you to help coordinate the weekend schedule. If possible, change Saturdays and Sundays to Fridays and Saturdays.
"Some children go to school on Saturdays and Sundays. That's why we must synchronise all holidays," he said.
