KUALA LUMPUR - Pahang Barisan Nasional has listed six names with potential and calibre to be considered as candidates for the Pelangai State Assembly by-election.
The list of names were given to Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for a discussion and to be decided on
It was understood among the names listed was Bentong Umno Dvision Committee member Datuk Jamaludin Buyong.
Jamaludin, 60, who was born in Bentong was the former TRIpic Berhad Acting Managing Director.
Besides Jalamuddin, other names considered were Bentong Umno Division acting chief Datuk Seri Mohamad Zaini Salleh, Bentong Umno Division deputy chief Datuk Hazraf Ali Hasan and Bentong Umno Division Wanita deputy chief Fadliyatun Ahmad.
Two former Bentong Umno Division Youth chiefs Datuk Ekmal Hamid Zakaria and Datuk Khairuddin Yaakob were said to be listed.
The BN candidate that will contest in the Pelangai by-election will be announced on Sept 17.
The Pelangai by-election would be held following the death of its incumbent Datuk Seri Johari Harun on Aug 17.
Johari was among 10 individuals who died in the tragic aircraft crash at the Guthrie Expressway near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam.
He won the Pelangai state seat in GE15 with a majority of 4,048 votes defeating Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Kasim Samat.
He obtained 7,308 votes compared to 3,260 votes received by his opponent while the other two candidates which were Ahmed Wafiuddin Shamsuri from Pakatan Harapan (2,031) and Isa Ahmad from Pejuang (65 votes). - AWANI
