JOHOR BAHRU - Despite residing in Singapore, it did not deter a woman from fulfilling her duty to vote in the Pulai Parliamentary by-election today.
Tan Hui Huan, 45, wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to personally choose her representative at the polling station in SMK Taman Bukit Indah.
What's more, Hui Huan, who works as a financial officer, was accompanied by her 70-year-old mother, Na Ah May, who uses a wheelchair due to having a prosthetic leg.
"I returned with my husband on a motorcycle via the Tambak Johor to get back to Johor Bahru yesterday afternoon to vote in the Pulai Parliamentary by-election.
"We have been living and working in Singapore for 20 years.
"Every election, we make sure to return because it is our responsibility to the country," she said after casting her vote today.
Hui Huan added that her mother, Ah May, has never missed her duty as a voter and always wakes up early to cast her vote.
"Today, at 9 in the morning, I brought my mother to the polling station.
"She is happy to fulfill her duty as a voter," she said.
