KUALA LUMPUR - Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today expressed his condolences to the family of Pertiwi Soup Kitchen founder Datuk Munirah Abdul Hamid who died on Sept 4.

Also conveying her condolences was the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

According to a posting on Istana Negara’s Facebook page, Their Majesties expressed their sadness over Munirah’s passing and hoped that her family members remained patient and strong in facing this sad and difficult situation.

Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also prayed that the soul of the deceased be placed among the pious and the righteous.

The post said that Munirah, 73, was well-known for her active involvement as a social worker since the age of 17, delving into issues faced by the homeless.

Throughout her more than 50 years in charity work, the late made significant contributions to the community, particularly in the field of women’s welfare and children’s education.

Established in 2010, Pertiwi Soup Kitchin served as a platform for Munirah to reach out to the target groups by distributing food to the less fortunate. - BERNAMA
