KUALA LUMPUR - Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said his acquittal in the RM2.8 million corruption case has nothing to do with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) order granted by the High Court.
However, the Umno Supreme Council member said it was difficult to disregard the impression and perception of the people on the court's decision and the issue of the Umno president.
Bung was seen still in shock by the decision made by High Court judge Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid and said that the court had deliberated the case the best way possible.
He said the defence team representing him and his wife Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad for five years has worked hard in achieving justice.
"I'm thankful as the court has aquitted my wife and I, thank you to the legal team as well as those who prayed for us, may Allah replace their good deeds," he said.
When asked whether the charges against him were politically motivated, Bung, 66, replied that it could be.
