TOKYO - The recent production stoppage at Japan's largest carmaker Toyota was due to insufficient storage space on servers, not a cyberattack, the company said on Wednesday, reported German news agency (dpa).
The incident, which knocked out Toyota's domestic production for about a day, occurred because servers used to process spare parts orders were unavailable after maintenance work, it said.
Due to insufficient memory, an error occurred during the maintenance, which led to a system shutdown. The system was restored after the data was transferred to a server with greater capacity, Toyota said.
Of 28 production lines at 14 domestic factories, 25 lines at 12 factories were initially shut down. Later, all 14 facilities were temporarily taken offline.
Production was restarted the following day. - BERNAMA
