SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth Chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has raised questions about the statement made by former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who described the Attorney-General's decision to withdraw 47 criminal charges against Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as immoral.
Muhamad Akmal also compared this case to several other instances involving politicians that occurred when Muhyiddin was in government.
"If other people are considered immoral, would the same standards apply when it concerns oneself?
"When Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) was in power 22 months ago, DAP Chairman Lim Guan Eng's case was dropped. Was that morally right?
"Even though at that time the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the entire country were surprised, the case of Datuk Seri Najib (Najib Razak) was prosecuted despite the lack of solid evidence when Tan Sri was in government. Was that moral?" he said in a Facebook post today.
On Monday, Zahid was discharged without acquittal (DNAA) by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on 47 charges of corruption, breach of trust, and money laundering involving funds from Yayasan Akalbudi.
Muhamad Akmal also called on Muhyiddin to provide an explanation regarding his son-in-law's alleged escape from authorities.
"Is the escape of his son-in-law not considered immoral to Tan Sri? I hope Tan Sri can provide an explanation as well," he added.
On Monday, the MACC tracked down two men to assist in an investigation of corruption and embezzlement in a project connected to the registration, recruitment, and biometric storage of foreign workers at a ministry.
In a statement, MACC revealed that the two individuals found were Datuk Muhammad Adlan Berhan, 48, and Mansoor Saat, 69.
It had been previously reported in the media that Muhammad Adlan is Muhyiddin's son-in-law.
The statement also mentioned that records from the Malaysian Immigration Department indicated that both individuals had left Malaysia on May 17 and May 21, respectively.
