SHAH ALAM - The 'green wave' was not initiated by Pas; however, it was introduced by former DAP chairman Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, which has become an inspiration and ignited the spirit of the people to continue their struggle.
Johor Pas deputy youth chief Mohd Azlan Alias said that the people are aware that the green wave is the result of the awakening of Malays who want to save their religion and homeland.
He also said that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) is very optimistic about winning based on the support of young people.
"This wave has been successfully built, and the recent state election results show that PN has managed to secure more seats than expected.
"Young people today are becoming more aware and intelligent, and they are not just playing online video games; instead, they are using social media and technology to gather information," he said during the Sinar Forum titled 'PRK: Mood from three perspectives' hosted by Ismail Adnan.
Also on the panel today were Johor Umno Youth Deputy Chief Dr Mohammad Aswad Ithnain, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Bersatu (Bersatu) Youth Deputy Chief Syafiq Aziz, and Johor Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Youth Exco Fadhli Umar Aminolhuda.
The Election Commission (EC) has set the polling day for the Pulai Parliamentary and Simpang Jeram State Assembly by-elections for Sept 9, while early voting was on Tuesday, Sept 5.
The Pulai Parliamentary and Simpang Jeram State Assembly by-elections were held following the death of the incumbent, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, on July 23 due to a brain haemorrhage.
Meanwhile, Mohd Azlan said PN's candidate for the Simpang Jeram State Assembly Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya, could trigger the green wave.
He stated that the candidate's performance requires not only a good background but also individuals who are devout in their faith as a factor for voters to choose them.
"We in the PN are optimistic that the Malay resurgence will reach Johor.
"This was also mentioned by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who said that the Green Wave might even reach Singapore," he said.
