KUALA LUMPUR - Pertiwi Soup Kitchen founder Datuk Munirah Abdul Hamid has died.

She was 70.

It was reported that she took her last breath at 4am at her home in Bangsar, here

The news of her passing was shared by AEON Consortium chief executive officer Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz through the official Pertiwi Soup Kitchen volunteer programme's Facebook.

She was known for actively participating as a social worker since she was 17 years old while delving into the issues of homelessness.

Throughout 50 years doing volunteer work, she had made several contributions towards the public especially for women and children's education.

Pertiwi Soup Kitchen had given her the opportunity to approach the alleys around the capital to serve residents of the metropolitan city who were in hunger.

Pertiwi Soup Kitchen was founded in 2010 giving a means for the late Munirah to approach the target group and distribute food to those less fortunate.
