Man's body found floating near Bum-Bum Island

SEMPORNA - A man's body, believed to have drowned, was found floating near the Balembang Jetty on Bum-Bum Island this morning.

The adult male's body was discovered around 8am before the fire department was informed to provide assistance in lifting the body onto a Marine Police Team boat.

Atas Air Fire and Rescue Department station chief Norjali Maslah stated that they received a call regarding the discovery from the police at 8.24am.

He said that seven fire department personnel were dispatched to the location, which was approximately one kilometre from the Atas Air Fire and Rescue Station.

"The team retrieved the victim's body, which was floating in the sea near the Balembang Jetty on Bum-Bum Island, and placed it on the police’s boat.

"The victim's body was handed over to the police for further action," he told Sinar today.

He further stated that the operation was concluded at 9.15am after the victim's body was successfully retrieved.
