JASIN - Umno Youth will file a police report to urge an investigation into the alleged leak of documents in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case involving former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Its chief Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh said the report was to verify the documents in question which had been widely circulated.
According to him, this also allows investigations to be carried out on the matter and appropriate action to be taken to restore public confidence in the country's legal system.
"We want the said document which was sent to the Attorney-General at that time to be verified.
"We are asking the new Attorney-General to confirm whether the document is viral or not," he said when met in Selandar here today.
Dr Aqmal who is also a member of the Merlimau Assemblyman said that if the report was confirmed to be genuine, then he would make another report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) because there was alleged abuse of power by the previous lawyer to persecute Najib.
Previously, a document was circulated on social media claiming to be an 'Internal Memo' from the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).
The memo in question claims, among other things, the prosecution team's recommendation for the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) case dated 10 September 2019.
The content unanimously took the position that the six charges levied against the former Prime Minister and the former Secretary-General of the Treasury, Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah did not meet the minimum requirements for a charge of breach of trust (CBT) to obtain a prima facie case.
