KUALA LUMPUR - Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, illuminated itself in vibrant hues of the Jalur Gemilang colours, commemorating the nation's 66th Independence Day which was celebrated yesterday.
Burj Khalifa By Emaar in a posting on several official social media sites including Instagram shared a 49-second video accompanied by the Malaysian national anthem "Negaraku", and it received about 19,000 likes.
"Tonight, #BurjKhalifa illuminates for Malaysia’s Independence Day. As you mark this momentous day, may your nation flourish and your citizens embrace unity, prosperity and joy. Warm wishes for a Happy Independence Day," it said in the post.
Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) building, in Abu Dhabi, was also decorated with the Jalur Gemilang.
Several Malaysian citizens did not want to be left out from expressing their pride with this initiative taken by owners of the these buildings to celebrate this year's National Day.
"Terima kasih! Proud to be Malaysian living in Dubai once upon a time, thanks for this (Burj Khalifa initiative) and for the memories,” said an Instagram user syigim in a post in the comments space.
Apart from this, account user irwaniz also expressed his gratitude to the UAE government for recognising Malaysia's National Day this year.
Meanwhile, account user amrahamajid said he was touched to see the Jalur Gemilang once again displayed this year on the world's tallest building.
