PUTRAJAYA - Youths in the country view the Malaysia #QuranHour programme as not only significant with today’s 66th National Day celebration, but as an ibrah (lesson) through appreciation of the contents of the Quran and making it a guideline in life.
Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Adam Adli said the spiritual programme was also held simultaneously at the ministry’s headquarters, here.
"This is our chance to understand Allah’s words to be made as guidelines in our daily lives.
"There are many in Putrajaya with high-ranking positions, but to become good leaders it must stem from a strong belief towards the Quran,” he said.
Citing surah Al-Asr as an example, Adam said it was among the shorter surahs but carried major values in regards to time.
"Youths would usually have a lot of time, but most of them would not utilised it properly to increase good projects.
"The surah teaches youths to take action and use their time productively as well as proactively and to not waste it,” he said when met at the Malaysia #QuranHour programme that took place at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque, yesterday (Wednesday).
The programme themed ‘Malaysia Berakhlak Mulia: Pemuda Merdeka, Pemimpin Abrar’ (A Virtuous Malaysia: Liberated Youths, Pious Leader) brought the mission of surahs Al-Fatihah, Al-Insan and Al-Asr.
Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman also encouraged the involvement of youths in the programme to develop themselves spiritually and physically that were easily forgotten today.
He said the steps taken by the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) to organise the Malaysia #QuranHour coincided with efforts to invite youths to practice values in the Quran.
"As Muslims, we must return to the Quran as Islam advocated us to do good for anyone without accounting for political understanding.
"Despite differences in politics, with guidance from the Quran and hadith, it can form a noble character and then be able to embody the true meaning of independence among the public,” said the Muda president.
Bachok MP Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman said the Malaysia #QuranHour was very significant to the National Day celebration.
"The appreciation of Surah Al-Insan, Al-Fatihah and Al-Asr gives meaning to the youths. I strongly recommend the involvement of youths in such programmes and we must stand together to understand the messages of the three surahs,” he said.
He added that it was time for youths to rise and develop the nation in line with the guidelines from the Quran.
Lembah Jaya assemblyman Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman or better known as Altimet said the programme was a manifestation of the leadership characteristics that youths should possess.
He said Surah Al-Insan brought 11 noble characters that were individuals who were eligible to lead the community development projects.
"By having such characters, youths can rise instead of sleeping and manifest several humanitarian projects as well as continuing to birth more devoted generations,” he said.
