Leaders should embody religion, irrespective of public support - Actress Erma Fatima

Actress and director Fatimah Rahmad Ali, also known as Erma Fatima, expressed her thoughts about Islam during her first participation in the #QuranHour.

"Those who are absent are missing out; we can learn three chapters in an hour.

"Searching for a leader with good character? Certainly, a caliph serves as a guide for those under his leadership.

"If the leader isn't good, what's behind them won't be either.

"Thus, the leader, the caliph we choose, should be among the best who can lead us to a good life.

"A life that guarantees prosperity in this world and the hereafter," she told Sinar Daily today.

However, there’s no concept of governing a country based solely on religion.

Instead, it should instill religious values at a young age.

It's not about waiting until old age to seek religion.

For those without a religious foundation, perhaps they can seek it when they are older.

Nonetheless, religion should be instilled in children starting at home, she emphasised.

"For those who haven't had the opportunity, there's still time, as Allah provides us with chances.

"I recommend parents start instilling religious values at a young age.

"Children must receive religious education.

"So, a leader shouldn't only turn to religion in their later years for political gain.

"Religion should be an integral part of them, regardless of whether the people support them.

"A leader must embrace religion." On the other hand, she is here today to study those chapters, not from a political standpoint, as she aims to comprehend the content of the Quran itself.
