KOTA KINABALU - An auxiliary police officer was discovered dead with a gunshot wound to the head at a resting area in the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) here today.
A colleague reportedly stumbled upon the lifeless body of the 42-year-old victim at the resting area.
The victim was found covered in blood and seated in a chair, indicating a violent end.
The police were subsequently alerted and rushed to the scene.
At that point, the victim was still alive.
However, medical assistance from Queen Elizabeth I Hospital (HQEI) arrived approximately 30 minutes later and confirmed the unfortunate demise of the victim.
Investigators from both the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters and State Police Headquarters as well as the Sabah Forensic Unit arrived to conduct further inquiries at the scene.
Sabah CID Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abd Rahim confirmed the incident.
"The victim's body has been taken to the HQEI Forensic Unit for further examination.
The case is currently under police investigation," he said.
