MOSCOW - The Thai government plans to increase the period of visa-free stay for Russian tourists in the country from 30 to 90 days, newly elected Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said on Saturday, reported Sputnik.

"Russia is a big market for Thailand’s inbound tourism... I was told that, for example, in the winter there are many Russians who would like to stay here for more than 30 days, but visa-free entry for Russian citizens is limited to 30 days. We will try to make sure that Russian tourists can stay in Thailand not for 30, but for 90 days," Thavisin said at a meeting with representatives of the administration and tourism business of the southern Thai province of Phang-Nga.

Thailand will also try to ease the visa regime for other countries with a colder climate, for example, for Kazakhstan, the prime minister added. - BERNAMA
