SHAH ALAM - Former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob believes the courage of the Umno Youth leadership today is capable of bringing the party back to its feet.
The confidence was voiced by the former Prime Minister in conjunction with 74 years of Umno Youth fighting for religion, race and nation.
Ismail Sabri said his journey in politics started with Umno Youth who taught him about idealism and building his identity one step after another up to the highest peak, leading the national administration.
He said Umno Youth was courageous and not afraid to express its position on the interests of the party and the people.
"The youth also have a very heavy responsibility to ensure that Umno's idealism is not contaminated and that it is always loved by the youth.
"Congratulations on the 74th Umno Youth Anniversary. Continue the struggle for religion, nation and country," he said in a post on Facebook.
In the state elections in six states on Aug 12, Barisan Nasional (BN)-Umno suffered a heavy defeat when they only won 19 seats out of 108 State Legislative Assembly seats contested.
In Kedah and Terengganu, BN failed to win even one seat and it only won two seats in Selangor and Penang, and one seat in Kelantan.
BN also only won 14 of the 17 seats at stake in Negeri Sembilan.
