KOTA BHARU - A husband and wife are determined to take legal action against a teacher who allegedly slapped their child at a primary school here last Wednesday.
The couple made the decision after finding their son traumatised and had to be admitted to the ward.
The victim's father known as Khairul said that his son who is in Year Two at school complained of pain on his face and dizziness before being taken to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM).
"Our son was admitted to the ward for two days and the doctor informed that he had bleeding in both ears besides swelling in both cheeks," he told reporters here on Friday.
Khairul claimed that the incident happened when the teacher addressed as 'ustaz' looked for his son in class at about 7.40am before slapping him in the face several times until he fell down.
"We were informed that the ustaz did so because of a complaint from his child who is also our son's classmate that they had a fight the day before the incident," he revealed.
He added that the teacher's act was also witnessed by other students and school janitors.
However, he pointed out that the teacher had contacted him in the afternoon on the same day to apologise, but there were no other contacts after that.
"I also rushed to meet the school management at about 1pm to get an explanation about the incident.
"We were disappointed having not received information about the matter when the incident happened early in the morning. My son answered an examination in fear and tears," he shared.
The couple also made a police report at Melor police station at about 2.40pm to get the matter investigated.
