By-election : BN and PH and no longer allergic to each other says Zahid

JOHOR BAHRU - Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition is no longer allergic to Pakatan Harapan (PH) after more than eight months of the two political coalitions being together.

Zahid who is also the Umno president said that the two political coalitions now have no problem with each other and can continue to work together in the name of the Unity Government.

"Put aside the prejudices between us, we used to be allergic to red shirts (the official color of PH), they (PH people) are even more (allergic to BN). Now there is no blue or red. Now we are together," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Zahid was speaking at the Inauguration Ceremony of the Madani youth event at B5 Street Market, Tampoi here on Friday.

Also present were Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Rubiah Awang and the State Secretary and Chairman of the Johor Southeast Development Board (Kejora), Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani.

Zahid said that the unity is important for BN and PH to face the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections on September 9.

He said the victory of BN and PH in the two by-elections is very important in efforts to strengthen and convey support for the Unity Government.

Zahid added that these two seats need to remain as the 'base' or political stronghold for the two coalitions in this state.

The Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament explained that when the representatives of the seats are from BN and PH, it will facilitate relations between the state government and the central government.

"Keep trusting (BN and PH)...this is not a campaign but another event...but I am taking the opportunity to address the young people here," he said.
