KUALA LUMPUR - Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has announced that he will be visiting all 191 divisions throughout the country to meet with division heads, committees and branch leaders at all levels, starting from tomorrow.
Zahid said he would first head to Johor tomorrow before visiting branches in other states to provide grassroots support.
"What's important is that starting from tomorrow in Johor, I will be visiting all 191 divisions nationwide.
"I will be meeting with committees at four levels and branch leaders in all those divisions as well.
"I need to be on the ground, rooted, and grassroots-connected.
"We are committed to winning our candidates in Pulai, Simpang Jeram, and Pelangai, God willing.
"The most crucial candidate is the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in Pelangai," he said.
He made these remarks during his speech at the Solidarity Gathering of Women with the President - Defending Institutions at the Tun Hussein Onn Hall, World Trade Centre (WTC) today.
When approached by the media after the event, the Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman reiterated that Umno will no longer dwell on past achievements but will move forward in its next struggle.
He stated that these conclusions were reached through discussions in the political bureau after receiving reports on the State Elections involving Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan, Penang, and Terengganu.
"I intend to meet not only the leadership at the four levels but also the branch leaders, Women's and Youth branch leaders.
"In other words, I want to meet all leadership at all levels, and I hope this is the first round, we have time.
"In my opinion, for the second round, we can meet with members at the branch level," he said.
On Monday, Umno conducted an evaluation of the party's severe defeat in the State Elections involving Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan, Penang, and Terengganu.
Its Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that these findings were made at the state and party wing levels and were being compiled for a presentation at the party level.
