SHAH ALAM - The General Insurance Protection Scheme (Insan) website under the Selangor state government became inaccessible on Thursday.
Checks by Sinar saw that the website was unable to be viewed and its operations suspended.
Latest developments found the cause was related to a personal data breach
The issue began when a user dispute arose about personal data on the site and had uploaded her experience on social media raising public concerns about data security.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has denied the claims.
He explained those who pre-registration for the scheme must confirm the matter with a selfie and identity card and follow the related steps to confirm registration.
Selangor police on Thursday confirmed eight police reports were received on the claims, but it was classified as a Refer to Other Agency (ROA) case.
The reports were referred to the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) which was an agency under the Communications and Digital Ministry.
