SHAH ALAM - The bigotry and fanaticism of some supporters of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are alleged to be among the factors in the defeat of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the selective states.
Johor Umno youth chief, Noor Azleen Ambros said it has become a phenomenon where nothing can change the perception and decision of the supporters, even if it is for change for the good of the people of the state.
"We, Umno, realise and respect the people's mandate and decision.
"What is important is our responsibility together to think of the best for the country.
"But whatever happened in Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu where I myself participated in the election campaign there faced a situation of extreme bigotry and fanaticism.
"No matter how we try to campaign in Terengganu to overcome the issue of unemployment and want to make sure that the administration is managed by the right people, when faced with that phenomenon, in my observation there is nothing that can be done and it is finally translated in the form of election results (defeat)," he said.
He said this as a panelist on Wacana Sinar series 409 titled: Peace Plan: Reality or Political Dream hosted by Ismail Adnan.
The programme also featured other panels: the Amanah Communications director, Khalid Samad, Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council Member, Mohd Rafiq Mohd Abdullah and Pas Youth Information Head, Khairul Nadzri Helmi Azhar.
However, according to Noor Azleen, BN and Umno will not give up and believe that the people will realise the importance of progress in a state.
