ALOR SETAR - Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has defended his recent act of tapping a young woman on the head with a piece of paper on Saturday, following a video of the incident that went viral.

He said it was a common form of jesting locally and he opted for a harmless piece of paper instead of using a stick.
"Teasing and joking with children is a part of our village's culture.
"The young lady was preparing to enter the polytechnic the next day," he stated, adding that on that particular day, he had given her a letter requesting a donation.
Although the letter needed to be folded, he had provided RM650 to assist her in her preparations for polytechnic admission, as reported by Malaysiakini.
An 18-second video showing the Jeneri state assemblyman tapping a woman on the head with a piece of paper caught the attention of netizens, onlookers took it as a joke and responded with laughter.
In response to the incident, Muda Deputy President Amira Aisya Abd Aziz
suggested that it was important for individuals like Sanusi to maintain decorum even when engaging in jest and not trivialise every situation as a joke.
