SHAH ALAM - Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin has praised Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad recent directive of encouraging civil servants to wear batik shirts every Thursday
He also commended the move by Nik Nazmi to regulate the aircond temperature in government offices where it will be set at 25 degree celcius to help reduce Malaysia's carbon footprint.
He lauded Nik Nazmi's actions while praising his top performance in the Madani government.
"I've said before on 'Keluar Sekejap' podcast episodes and I'll say it again. Nik Nazmi is the top performing minister in this Madani government.
"He is sensible, understands his brief, does not waste his time attacking the opposition without any justification and gets his work done," Khairy said in his Instagram story.
In a joking manner, Khairy further commented on the choice of football club Nik Nazmi supports.
"Heads and shoulders above the rest, only problem is he (Nik Nazmi) supports Liverpool. Oh well, can't have everything," Khairy said.
Minutes later, Nik replied by reposting Khairy's story to his Instagram account saying "Bro, you can always cross over (I am talking about football),"
Earlier today, Nik Nazmi announced that civil servants can now wear batik clothing for the whole week and not just on Thursdays.
In a statement, he said the cabinet agreed to the move in view of the climate and the need for energy efficiency in government offices.
He further said that this move will also help the local batik industry.
Nik Nazmi said that recommendation to change the dress code will be extended to all members of the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara.
