JOHOR BAHRU - "The Perikatan candidate from Pas in this by-election is indeed someone people are familiar with."
That was the brief response from Pas Johor Commissioner Abdullah Husin, when providing an overview of the party's candidate for PN in the upcoming Parliamentary and state seat by-elections for Pulai and Simpang Jeram respectively, set to be held simultaneously on Sep 9.
According to Abdullah, both candidates are not new names and are widely recognized, being natives of Johor.
"Insha-ALLAH, we will announce both candidates on Wednesday night in Simpang Jeram.
"However, if the declaration is made by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin around 2 to 2.30pm in the main operations room at Kempas on Wednesday, we will also proceed with the gathering in Simpang Jeram that night to introduce our candidates," he told Sinar today.
For the record, the Pulai Parliamentary and Simpang Jeram stat seat by-elections are being held due to unforeseen vacancies following the passing of their incumbents, former Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, on July 23.
Meanwhile, when asked for further comments on the two candidates, Abdullah said, let the matter be formally announced later.
"For me, let the announcement of these candidates, whether for the Pulai Parliamentary constituency or the Simpang Jeram be made officially.
"But as I mentioned earlier, there won't be any surprises with our candidates this time as people are already familiar," he said.
