Cops arrest two for unauthorised sale of Pahang state honours

KUANTAN - Two men have been arrested for being involve in the sale of state honours and badges from the Pahang state through e-commerce platforms without authoritisation.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the suspects between the ages of 40 to 52 were detained in two separate raids in Puchong, Selangor and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur on Aug 8.

He said they were under remand for four days from Aug 9 to 12 and were released on police bail on Aug 12.

"We seized several items involving the sale of car decals and state crest of Pahang. The case is still under investigation," he told reporters after the handover of duties ceremony for Pahang deputy chief, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.

Yahaya said they are in the midst of completing the case and will press charges of any wrongdoing is detected.

Noor Hisam has been appointed as deputy police chief from Aug 30 after serving as the Commander of the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Kuala Lumpur.

The position was previously held by Datuk Mohd Yusri Othman who served as the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) chief in Pahang for almost seven months.

The illegal sale discovery was made after Pekan District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a report. A preliminary investigations found that a set of state honours were being sold for over RM1,000.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 3(1)(c) of the Pahang insignia, title or award (Improper Use Prevention) Enactment 2017.
