'I have never dreamt of becoming MB' - Mohd Nassuruddin

KOTA BHARU - Kelantan Menteri Besar, Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud has said that he never dreamt about assuming the post,

However, Nassuruddin who is also the Meranti assemblyman said he accepted the post as a responsibility and trust that must be shouldered.

"I have never dreamt of becoming the Menteri Besar and I myself have suggested others who were much more qualified.

"However, this is all trust and fated by Allah SWT," he said while delivering a lecture as the Kelantan Menteri Besar at the Medan Ilmu, here on Friday.

Mohd Nassuruddin asked for the public in the state to come together to uphold Islamic values as well as develop Kelantan.

He said the public must be faithful to leaders who believe in Allah and continue to correct each other's mistakes.

"If I make a mistake, please correct it and give constructive advice and opinions.

"I ask to distance myself from being a liar or a traitor while fulfilling this trust," he said.

Mohd Nassuruddin on Tuesday was sworn in as the third Kelantan Menteri Besar after Pas Took over the Kelantan administration in 1990.

The late Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and Datuk Ahmad Yakob were the previous Menteri Besar.

The state elections last Saturday had Nassuruddin defend the Meranti state seat after defeating the BN candidate Zahri Omar with a majority of 9,154 votes.

The former Islamic Development, Da'wah, Information and Regional Relations Committee Exco had defended the seat since 1999.

Nassuruddin who received his education in the Al Azhar University, Egypt, is also the Kelantan Pas Information chief and is well known as one of the party's 'warlords
