SHAH ALAM - Seri Setia Assemblyman Dr Fahmi Ngah has deferred to the wisdom of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leadership and the state government to determine the best candidate for the 17th Selangor Menteri Besar.
Fahmi said that the matter was also up to the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
"This matter is not in our control, but we will leave it to them (to determine) who is deemed worthy to lead this state," he said when contacted by The Star on Thursday.
Asked if his name was among those presented to the Sultan of Selangor as a Menteri Besar candidate, Fahmi said he did not know about the list of candidates.
"I have no information, all I know is what is in the newspapers," he explained.
Fahmi was previously mentioned as a candidate for Selangor Menteri Besar, in addition to Sungai Tua assemblyman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, to continue leading the state for a second term.
In the Selangor state election last Saturday, the former chief executive officer of the Selangor Economic Advisory Office won in the Seri Setia State Legislative Assembly after winning a majority of 11,331 votes.
Fahmi obtained 32,367 votes, defeating the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate, Mohd Zubir Embong, who obtained 21,036 votes.
