SEREMBAN - The police arrested a man in Rawang, Selangor, who was believed to be involved in a series of shop break-ins at two separate locations here last Sunday.

Seremban District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Arifai Tarawe said the 42-year-old man was detained today around 8.40am by a team from the Seremban Police Headquarters.

"The suspect's arrest follows two police reports made by the supervisors of two convenience stores aged 24 and 25 in Bandar Seremban and Senawang after they found that the main entrance of the premises had been cut open.

"The safe within the premises had been drilled open, and the money inside belonging to both shops, amounting to RM17,000 and RM8,000, had disappeared in an incident that occurred between 5am and 7.30am," he said on Wednesday.

Arifai added that besides the arrest, the police also seized a car and burglary tools suspected to have been used in the incident. Some suspected stolen items related to the crime were also found in the possession of the suspect.

"Upon investigation, it was found that the suspect has 11 past criminal records and two outstanding criminal warrants.

"The suspect is currently remanded for four days for further investigation. With this arrest, we believe we can solve at least three shop break-ins in Seremban area and one vehicle theft in Klang, Selangor," he said.
