SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Menteri Besar is expected to be sworn in next Monday at the latest.
According to a MalaysiaGazette report, the delay for the Menteri Besar to take his oath is to give room for the palace to make the necessary preparations after the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah returned yesterday after undergoing medical procedures abroad.
The report quoted party sources as saying that so far the Menteri Besar candidate who has received the blessing of PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
"Yesterday (Monday) there was already a meeting. All positive so far. Istana wants three names, the party has sent three names giving full priority to Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. This is also due to his excellence performance in governing Selangor.
" First term members of the state legislative Assembly (Assembly) will most likely not be selected this time," the source was quoted as saying
It is understood that the other two names submitted to the palace were Borhan Aman Shah (Tg Sepat) and Fahmi Ngah (Seri Setia).
It had been reported that the Unity Government would retain Amirudin as Menteri Besar if the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition won in Selangor.
In the State Election last Saturday, the PH-BN coalition succeeded in forming the state government after winning 34 out of 56 seats in the State Legislative Assembly.
