SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim must promptly organise and implement reforms to combat this country's increasingly entrenched corruption and bribery.

Rasuah Busters Selangor, Federal Territory, and Putrajaya Chairman Professor Hamdan Daniel M Sharib said with a two-thirds majority in Parliament; it is a bonus for Anwar to continue the agenda of fulfilling legislative reforms without requiring support from the opposition.

"Do not become like a mouse fixing a gourd that ultimately harms the country. Utilise the available opportunity to the fullest extent so that the people benefit from the nation's prosperity.

"The people continue to urge and expect Anwar to fulfil promises in the effort to fight corruption and simultaneously reform institutions for more organised and integrity-filled governance," he said on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) urged Anwar to fulfil the promise of combating systematic corruption and implementing institutional reforms for better governance, accountability, and stability.

Hamdan added that the opportunities and trust given by the people should be utilised to the fullest extent so that the country's administration is on the right track.
