SHAH ALAM - The subsidy of RM300 for the purchase of flight tickets for public university students has been implemented today.
The subsidy is for domestic routes between the Peninsular, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Federal Territory
In a statement, the Transport Ministry informed students that they can check their eligibility through the ministry's website at https://subsidiudara.mot.gov.my/.
"After checking it students who are eligible can make their subsidy aid application for the purchase of a flight ticket from any airline companies such as Malaysia Airlines (including MASwings and FireFly), AirAsia, Batik Air and MyAirline through their respective websites.
"If the student is not eligible they can make a review and appeal their case to the Higher Education Ministry through their respective universities," it said.
The Transport Ministry stated at the time students who were eligible are those from public universities for the 2022/2023 academic year on June 30, 2023.
"After receiving the application, the airline company would release a digital voucher worth RM300 for the student, which can be credited to purchase the flight ticket.
"If the ticket prices bought is less than RM300 the digital voucher would remain and would be usable for their next flight tickets," it said.
The ministry stated that the deadline for the voucher redemption for the purchase of the flight tickets was on Dec 31, 2023.
"However, the purchase of flight tickets for travel purposes after the deadline of the voucher redemption is allowed.
"For the national month celebration, this aid is an initiative by the unity government to tighten the bond between the Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak as well as the Labuan Federal Territory.
"It could also serve as a method to overcome the cost of living issues in line with Malaysia Madani," the statement read
