KOTA BHARU - Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Communications director Khalid Samad views the 'backwards' politics brought by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the state elections is a waste for the nation, Islam and Malays.

He said those who were politicking to bring fanatical thinking to parties, backwards racial and religious sentiments should be rejected as it does not develop the way Malays think in the nation.

"The political mindset PN and especially Pas brought forth, what’s important was for them (PN) to win.

"The situation caused voters not to care about the representative’s performance. This can be seen when some individuals (representatives) with no good track record were being voted in

"This kind of political thinking would be a waste for the public, for Malays and for Islam, until there is this mindset of letting PN rule and they don't care about being backwards or underdeveloped.

"If this continues it would be a waste for the nation and its people,” he said at a Kelantan Amanah press conference, here on Monday.

Also present was Kota Lama state assembly representative Dr Hafizdah Mustakim.

He said the elections had all parties contesting waiting to be judged fairly by the public following a fair democratic system, but the matter did not happen.

Khalid said the political mindset brought by PN had caused states where representatives were not performing were still voted in by the public.

"Its fine if they are under developed as long PN rules ,” he said.
