ALOR SETAR - Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has assured that all assemblymen under his leadership will not be involved in any corruption or embezzlement.

He said he would not allow any assemblyman to chase projects for themselves or their friends.

"Don't set your hearts on finding happiness for yourselves and your families first.

"I give my assurance to everyone here tonight that as long as I'm given the trust to lead the party machinery at the Kedah state assembly level, I will ensure they do not make their riches," he said in a speech at the People's Mandate Assembly programme in the Kedah Pas complex.

Sanusi said any assemblymen found guilty of corruption would be reported to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for further action.

"We will not protect anyone, and we will carry this trust for three years through hard work.

"As such, the biggest challenge for PN assemblymen would be to remain clean and stable to the end," he added.

Sanusi, who is also the Jeneri assemblyman, said party members who had worked to ensure the victory of assemblymen should refrain from trying to take advantage of the situation and become rich.

"You are all members and helpers who helped PN win at the state level.

"Do not go around tugging on the pants of assemblymen, hoping to become rich. That will never happen in Kedah. We are friends with the representatives only to help them serve the public," he said.

The Kedah state elections saw PN maintain its power in Kedah after winning 33 of 36 state seats.

Its victory enabled the party, which is supported by Pas and Bersatu, to continue leading the Kedah state government.
