MARANG - Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is set to meet with Terengganu ruler, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin to propose a candidate for the Menteri Besar role to form a new government.
Pas Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the swearing-in ceremony for the chief minister will proceed once they secure the Sultan's approval.
The process of forming a state government, including state executive council (exco), is expected to be compelted within a week.
"The Pas President will initiate the process of presenting the list of names to His Majesty, accompanied by appropriate recommendations.
"However, the exact date for the swearing-in ceremony is subjected to the palace's arrangements and we foresee it completed within a week," he said when approached by reporters in Rusila, here.
He said the exco lineup would be restructured with members from Bersatu included.
"That (Exco lineup) is still under consideration as we carefully assess various matters as we are now part of a political consensus party within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
"Undoubtedly, there will be considerations and improvements in the portfolios that need to be harmonised... We will take time to reassess the positions of these portfolios," said Samsuri who won in Ru Rendang seat.
The Terengganu state elections and the Kuala Terengganu Parliamentary by-election, held on Saturday, made history as all Perikatan Nasional candidates won all 32 contested state seats, including one parliamentary seat.
Pas candidates contested 27 seats while Bersatu contested the remaining five.
