JOHOR BAHRU - The Social Welfare Department (JKM) is tracing the next of kin of a boy who was abused by his biological mother and her partner in Pasir Gudang on Friday.
State Women, Family and Community Development Exco Khairin Nisa Ismail said the Johor Bahru district Social Welfare Office were collecting more information about his family members.
She noted that evaluation will also be done for the purpose of temporary or permanent protection after the child was allowed to be discharged from the hospital.
"I am also saddened by the news of the abuse case of a seven-year-old child who was beaten by his mother and his mother's friend that took place in Pasir Gudang.
"I was also informed that the child had been taken to the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI), Johor Bahru and is undergoing treatment," she said in a statement, today.
Commenting further, Khairin said that the youngest of two siblings had only been with his mother for a year after moving from his grandparents' house in Pokok Sena, Kedah.
Yesterday, a woman who had allegedly abused her seven-year-old son with her partner, a tomboy foreign woman were remanded.
Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the 27-year old woman was remanded for six days while her 30-year old partner was remanded for seven days.
Prior to that, some videos had gone viral showing the public storming the house to save the child who had been abused by his own mother and her friend.
