SHAH ALAM – Caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari confirms that Monday will be a public holiday for Selangor.
He confirmed this when asked if it would be a public holiday, following Pakatan Harapan (PH)'s 29 out of 56 seats win in the state.
"For sure,” he said at a hotel’s ballroom after celebrating his and the PH-BN alliance win over Selangor for the state election that took place yesterday.
Amirudin had previously vowed to declare Monday a state holiday if the PH-Barisan Nasional coalition wins the state election.
"If we win the Selangor state election and form the state government, we agree to declare Aug 14, which is the coming Monday, a public holiday for the entire state," he said during his 'Amanat Khas' live telecast on social media platforms yesterday.
He said the state PH-BN would carry out the pledges contained in its election manifesto, including items which it would carry out within the first 100 days of forming the state government.
Amirudin officially retained the Sungai Tua state seat with a majority of 5,185 votes. In total, he received 19,678 votes while his opponents - Perikatan Nasional Hanif Jamaluddin received 14,493 votes and independent candidate Suman Gopal received 430 votes..
