PETALING JAYA - Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said his party will continue to move forward from this defeat and reflect on it as they progress.

In a press statement at his home in Petaling Jaya, Syed expressed his thanks to all voters who had casted their ballots for Muda.

He added that even though the party have suffered losses, they will use this as a stepping stone to further improve themselves as a whole.

"This is Muda's first solo rally, and I admit that it has not been an easy journey.

"We faced major challenges in terms of funds, campaign preparation and party machinery.

"But this is the first step forward to a better future,"

The Muda president added that this is an essential step for the party to introduce new leaders and to express Muda's stance to all the people of Malaysia.

When questioned regarding the backlash his candidates faced for being privilieged, Syed said that he will take full responsibility for any mistakes made and will do better in the future.

"For most of them, it was their first entrance into politics, and often they run things on their own.

"As their president, I will give my full backing to all my candidates as they have tried their best.

"We shouldn't point fingers and blame anybody in the matter, in reality, the mistakes come from us and from me in particular," he said.

Syed ended his statement by stating that the party will continue its commitment as a voice of check and balance in the nation's political scene, and today's loss will be a maturing experience down the road.

"The next 10 years will be full of trials and tribulations but we are committed into making this country a great nation," he said
