KOTA BHARU - A significant defeat for the Barisan Nasional (BN) – Pakatan Harapan (BN-PH) coalition in the Kelantan state election has highlighted that the voters in the state are still not fully in sync with this coalition.

Kelantan BN Madani unity government party chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said despite an unofficial defeat of 43-2 to Perikatan Nasional (PN), led by Pas, the people of the state have not entirely rejected the BN-PH coalition.

He noted that the popular vote for each state assembly seat contested by BN-PH increased, even though the six seats won by BN in the 14th General Election were captured by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the current state polls.

"The fact is that the people of Kelantan are not rejecting BN-PH, but this coalition still needs to be harmonious with them. The BN-PH machinery can work together once the people can accept this coalition," he told a press conference at the Kelantan Umno headquarters here today.

Ahmad Jazlan further explained that the BN-PH coalition presented an attractive manifesto to the people of Kelantan during the state elections, yet the voters still chose Pas.

He pointed out that the unofficial result of a 43-seat victory for PN in this state election clearly indicated that the people of Kelantan were still willing to accept the policies pursued by Pas for over 30 years.
