Voter turnout percentage slows down

PUTRAJAYA - The voter turnout percentage for the state elections in six states has recorded a declining trend in the afternoon.

According to updates on the official social media page of the Election Commission (EC), the voter turnout percentage for each hour until 2pm is less than 10 per cent.

The statistics show that four states have recorded a turnout of more than 50 percent of voters.

These include Kedah with 56 per cent, Terengganu (56 per cent), Penang (53 per cent), and Selangor (51 per cent).

For Negeri Sembilan, the turnout percentage is 49 per cent, followed by Kelantan with 45 per cent.

In the elections in the six states, a total of 570 candidates are vying for 245 seats in the State Legislative Assembly seats.

About 9,773,571 voters are expected to fulfill their responsibility as voters in a total of 3,190 polling centers to determine which party will form the new state government.
