SEBERANG JAYA - Perikatan Nasional (PN) Seberang Jaya candidate Izhar Shah Arif Shah is following in his father's footsteps by serving the community.
Izhar's father, former Seberang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah, served for two terms from 2004 to 2013.
During that time, Izhar would often accompany his father to meet with constituents and help them with their problems.
"Izhar is very concerned about people.
"He would always ask me, 'Dad, can't we help them?'" Arif told Sinar Daily.
Arif said that Izhar has been taught to live a simple life and always to help others.
"Izhar always feels that 'If my father is able to do this, I want to do better' because he has been taught to lead a middle class life because my late father said 'Kaya tak ada mana pun hidup sederhana'.
"I have always taught my children to live a middle class life, to be humble, and to never offend anyone," he said.
Arif is confident that Izhar will be a good representative for the people of Seberang Jaya.
"Izhar has the heart to serve the people.
"He is also very hardworking and dedicated," he added.
Undoubtedly, Izhar got the 'helping nature' from his dad since Arif is always active in helping people till today through his 'Datuk Arif Shah service centre.
"My State Assembly office is the only state representative office with an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
"I will ensure that without my presence at my service centre, if my staff opens a file, there is a procedure where it must be closed, whether it's a positive or negative result but action must be taken," he reasoned.
Izhar and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Johari Kassim will be contesting for the Seberang Jaya state seat tomorrow.
