SHAH ALAM - Menteri Besar (MB) of Kelantan, Datuk Ahmad Yakob, and his Deputy, Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah, will be replaced with new leadership if Pas successfully retains governance in the state in the upcoming state elections on Aug 12.
Meanwhile, Kedah MB, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, and Terengganu MB, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, will remain in their positions if they continue to receive the people's mandate and the consent of the respective state Sultans.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, stated that this decision was made during the Pas Central Executive Committee meeting chaired by the party's President, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, on Aug 10 in Rusila, Terengganu.
He mentioned that Pas proposed the state governments leadership offer under its administration and Perikatan Nasional in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah.
"The first is to retain Menteri Besar for Terengganu and Kedah, subject to the people's mandate and the consent of the respective state Sultans.
"In Kelantan, there will be a change of Menteri Besar and Deputy Menteri Besar pairing, presenting a 'combination' of new leadership, consisting of a religious figure and a technocrat," he stated in a statement today.
Tomorrow marks the polling day for PRN in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan, as well as a by-election for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat.
Overall, a total of 9,674,456 registered voters are expected to cast their votes in the state elections, while the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election involves 122,160 registered voters.
Takiyuddin also urged all voters to fulfill their responsibilities on Aug12, 2023 by choosing leaders from both PAS and PN who are compassionate, clean, and virtuous.
