KUALA TERENGGANU - The measure of Terengganu's success, according to Pas, is more than just the construction of numerous buildings meant for showboating.
Instead, caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said that his government places greater emphasis on addressing the people's issues.
"We didn't become a government just to erect tall buildings, but to solve the problems faced by the people.
"(The government must consider) whether the people want to eat first or sit inside buildings. (Certainly) eat first. (So) this is our guiding principle – to carry out responsibilities and duties based on priorities," he said.
He made these comments during an appearance on the programme "Chat With Me 3.0" at Dataran Jambatan Angkat here on Thursday.
Ahmad Samsuri, also Pas Deputy President, stated this in response to claims that no development had occurred during his party's administration in Terengganu.
Also present were Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, independent lecturer Azhar Idrus, and other top party leaders.
Ahmad Samsuri added that the state government had to deal with numerous stalled projects left behind by the previous administration, which also contributed to the inability of his leadership to carry out new development projects.
"When we took over the government (in the past), we completed the unfinished development projects. This is what we did," he said.
