KOTA BHARU - The support from Kelantan's Siam community for Pas has experienced an increase from five per cent to 30 per cent, just days before the upcoming state polls this Saturday.
Pas Kelantan Liaison Committee secretary Wan Roslan Wan Hamat attributed the shift to fading trust in the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) coalition.
Due to that, he said most of the Siam community members have chosen to align with Pas compared to the previous 15th General Election (GE15).
"In the past, it was admittedly difficult for us to engage with the Siamese community.
"Now when Pas enters their villages, they extend a warm welcome and participate in the party's discussions," he said at the Perikatan Nasional daily press conference held at the Pas Liaison Office in Kelantan, here, today.
He further said a significant number of community members have expressed disappointment with Umno for allegedly neglecting the welfare of the Siamese community in Kelantan.
"Most of them are disappointed with Umno leadership for not looking into the welfare of the Siamese community in Kelantan," he said.
Wan Roslan, the Kelantan PN Liaison secretary said that more than 10,000 voters of the community in Bachok, Tumpat and Pasir Puteh districts are supporting them.
Wan Roslan, Pengkalan Kubor candidate said Pas candidates are contesting in several seats with Siamese settlements.
"Areas like Kelaboran state assembly such as Jubakar, Mentuan and Kubang Panjang are among those expected to get Siam's support in this state election," said Wan Roslan.
