SHAH ALAM - Caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, via his lawyer, has served a letter of demand to Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
Amirudin said the letter was sent on Wednesday at 7.36pm regarding a defamatory statement allegedly made by Muhammad Sanusi during a speech on Aug 2.
"Muhammad Sanusi has slandered, among other things, that I gave state land for free to private companies," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Amirudin stated that the letter requires Muhammad Sanusi to retract his statement and apologize within 48 hours.
"In addition, Muhammad Sanusi must give assurances that he will not repeat slanderous remarks and pay RM10 million in damages for defaming and issuing false news that affects the institution of the Selangor Menteri Besar and the state government," he said, adding that legal action would be taken if Muhammad Sanusi failed to comply.
On Aug 4, Amirudin said he would initiate legal action against Muhammad Sanusi in connection with a defamatory statement in a speech at the PN (Perikatan Nasional) Mega Tour "Sayangi Kedah Sejahtera" at the Darul Aman Square in Jitra, Kedah.
