PORT DICKSON - Umno Vice President Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail claimed Pas leaders have less knowledge than Barisan Nasional (BN) members.

He mentioned that the party's doctrine, which is based on the concept of heaven and hell, has persisted for a long time.

"Since the 80s, Pas has been using tactics to capitalise on voters' beliefs and faith that voting for the party will lead them to heaven.

"BN, on the other hand, is promising the people in Kelantan RM2,000 to those getting married for the first time, quit rent and assessment reduction. We want to establish a hafazan university. That is our mission.

"We don't see Pas having a vision; the same water issue has persisted for 33 years, and we don't see any efforts being made towards that. They're only fixated on going to heaven," he said on Wednesday.

He said this in response to Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's claim regarding the possibility of a change in government should the Perikatan Nasional (PN) win the state elections on Aug 12.

Wan Rosdy, the Pahang Umno liaison chief, stated that state election results could not affect the central government according to the law.

He added that the Anti-Party Hopping Law, which prevents Members of Parliament from switching sides after winning an election, has also been gazetted.

"If that's their mentality, where do you want to take Islam? Where do you want to Kelantan?

"It was true that you could jump to a different party (after winning, which could lead to a change in government), but you can't anymore now. We are the rakyat's representatives; we have an agreement," he said.

Wan Rosdy, also the caretaker of Pahang Menteri Besar, urged BN supporters to vote for its candidates, representing the unity government in the state polls.

"For the past nine months, the unity government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ruled the country in the best possible way. There is no reason for the voters to doubt.

"After establishing the unity government, the country has been running smoothly. Many things are awaiting the people," he said.
