ALOR SETAR – Kedah Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar, has urged Caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to settle his debt of RM10,000.
He pointed out that Sanusi still owed him the legal costs his defamation lawsuit against the latter.
"I am waiting for his call to treat me for a plate of ‘Mi Abu’ and I also want to ask about the RM10,000 debt from him.
"He has not paid me yet, I am surprised that he is educated but doesn't know how much he actual owed me despite the figure was announced by the Federal Court Judge.
"The RM10,000 is the cost of the Appeal Court that my lawyer informed me about," he said in a press conference at Kedah Umno headquarters today.
The PH candidate for Alor Mengkudu state seat, stressed that he wanted the debt to be settled immediately because Sanusi is now facing a RM200 million lawsuit by tycoon Tan Sri Vicent Tan of Berjaya Group.
"I have waited for a long time and now I am afraid that if he can’t pay the RM200 million lawsuit then what about my RM10,000 debt? So, I want him to pay me first," said Mahfuz.
On Oct 9, 2019, Mahfuz filed a lawsuit against allegations made by Sanusi through his Facebook account on July 30 of the same year, who linked him with the relocation of a gambling den, here.
On April 3, Sanusi failed in his appeal against the suit, while Mahfuz requested an increase in damages from RM50,000 to RM120,000, in addition of an apology from Sanusi.
