KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will seek assistance from the Immigration Department to freeze Datuk Muhammad Adlan Berhan's passport if he remains uncontactable or fails to respond.

MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki said it was necessary to do so to ensure Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's son-in-law along with another suspect, Mansoor Saat believed to be involved in corruption linked to a government project would be brought back for trial.

He said MACC believes Adlan and Mansoor Mansoor are currently out of the country in May, however he said he could not disclose more information on their whereabouts.

"But what is certain is that they are still abroad. So the course of action that can be taken is to request the immigrauon department to freeze both of their passports if they fail to respond," he said in a press conference on today.

Azam said this after officiating the closing ceremony of the 27th Basic Training Course for MACC Officers (P41 Officers) at Padang Kawad, Kuala Lumpur City Hall Enforcement Department, near here.

Adlan and Mansoor are sought by MACC to assist in corruption and misconduct issues related to a project involving foreign workers within a ministry.

Azam ssaid they may also seek Interpol's assiatnce to bring back the individuals.

He further said both individuals would also be placed under a 'red notice' as they are required for court proceedings.

"If MACC has issued a wanted list, it means he failed to show up at the MACC office for recording conversations. Therefore, there is a possibility that he and another individual are trying to flee," Azam added.

He clarified that MACC had previously undertaken various efforts to locate the two suspects.

When asked if Muhyiddin would be called in to assist in locating and bringing back Adlan, Azam stated that it depends on the investigation process.

He said if MACC requires Muhyiddin's statement, they would call him to assist in the investigation.
