SHAH ALAM - Pakatan Harapan candidate Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, or better known as Altimet, has pledged to be a serviceman to the people in Lembah Jaya, if elected as a state assemblyman for the constituency.
The Ampang PKR division chief said he has been actively serving the people for close to a year and would like to help the constituents there to solve a number of bread and butter issues should he be given the mandate.
"What I can offer the people of Lembah Jaya is a serviceman. I am offering myself as a leader someone who will serve, with no other agenda other than to serve to make the best possible outcome for the constituents in Lembah Jaya.
"Lembah Jaya is an urban area where 40 per cent of our constituents are in the B40 group, so there is a lot of bread and butter issues, water issues, infrastructure issues.
"There also issues concerning employment and career advancement for young families, whether it is still viable for them to retire in this constituency," he said during Sinar Daily's Top News podcast.
Altimet said although sentiments on the ground seems showed he had a high chance of winning the seat, he personally still felt it was "still not great".
"We have all the data guys saying my chances are good. But for me purposely I always think my chances are not good, so then I work harder," he said
He added that he felt one of his winning traits that he could offer to the Lembah Jaya constituents was his "workholic" behaviour.
"I draw my experiences from being an entrepreneur being a creative and I have a solid work ethic, I am pretty confident I will outwork most people, if I don’t work I go crazy, but I do take care of my rest, and my food intake all because I know this will aid me to become more productive when I am working," he said.
On whether he would be eyeing parliamentary seat next, Altimet said he would like to focus on the job at hand.
"I’ll focus on the job at hand, I am not looking that far forward. Its hard to be parliamentarian, its a different game with a similar skill set or skills I think our nation does not need inexperienced parliamentarians.
"I think one of the progressive things about my party is that they have always pushed for one person to hold one seat, of course there are some exceptions, but most of them hold one seat and I strongly agree with that," he said.
He also said his transition from a music career to politics was natural.
Contesting under the PKR ticket, Altimet will is making his first debut as an election candidate, contesting at the Lembah Jaya seat in Selangor.
